All of my grading policies follow the format outlined by Mint Hill Middle School. However, here are more specific grading details that pertain to my class.
Formal grades:
These consist of any major assessments and projects. Students who receive below a 79% on any formal assignment have the opportunity to redo it for up to a 79%.
Students who want to redo an assessment will first need to correct the missed problems. Students will need to rework the problem showing detailed steps and provide a brief (1-3 sentence) explanation of their original mistake(s). Once these corrections are submitted and discussed with me, I will allow the student to complete the second assessment. This re-assessment will need to take place during my morning tutoring session. Other accommodations can be made if necessary.
Informal grades:
These consist of daily assignments/projects, participation, homework, and minor assessments. These count for a significantly smaller portion of the student's overall grade (35%) and cannot be resubmitted for a higher score. However, I may have the student redo an assignment if necessary for improvements in accuracy.
Late Work/Make Up Work:
Students who are absent can submit work for full credit once they return. Students have up to as many days as they missed to complete the assignment. Students who did not submit the assignment on time will receive a 10% reduction for every day that it is late. I can make an exception to this rule for extenuating circumstances. Any student submitting late work will need to turn it in to me during morning homeroom or in the beginning or end of class.
